Born on July 15, 1950, in Athens, Greece, Huffington grew up in a family that valued education and intellectual curiosity. Her father, George Aristides Haskins, was a Greek shipping heir, and her mother, Elli Haskins, was a homemaker. Huffington's parents encouraged her to pursue her passion for writing and learning, which led her to study English literature at Girton College, Cambridge.
