: He serves as the audience's surrogate, representing the "everyman" hero who works hard but lacks Tendo's natural (and seemingly predestined) brilliance.

"Grandmother said this... 'Walk the path of Heaven, and rule over everything.'"

He looks out the window at the moon.

“The sun is bright today,” he says to no one. “Perfect for cooking. But also… for fighting.”

While Tendou steals the show, the episode does a good job of planting seeds for the supporting cast. Kagami Arata serves as the perfect "straight man" foil to Tendou’s eccentricity. He is the audience surrogate—the guy trying to do his job who gets constantly outshined by the guy who "walks the path of heaven." Their rivalry is established instantly and feels organic.
