While Tendou steals the show, the episode does a good job of planting seeds for the supporting cast. Kagami Arata serves as the perfect "straight man" foil to Tendou’s eccentricity. He is the audience surrogate—the guy trying to do his job who gets constantly outshined by the guy who "walks the path of heaven." Their rivalry is established instantly and feels organic.
