Rin built a conservative patch: she designed a tiny adapter board with a protective diode and a polarity-check resistor, following the legacy footprint but compatible with new harnessing. She exported the updated layout, running the E3 renderer to produce Gerber files, then sent them to the quick-turn fab with an overnight option. The fab asked for the original licensing terms; the university mirror’s readme included a permissive clause for repair and archival use. Within hours the prototype adapter was being milled.
