They understand the assignment: treat the dinosaurs as a genuine threat and the bikini-clad tribe as a serious dilemma, and the comedy will naturally arise from the absurdity of the situation. There is a innocence to the film’s schlock; it is violent and titillating, but it possesses the soul of a Saturday morning cartoon.
