Slice Strobe Resolume -

A strobe effect rapidly alternates between the original clip and either blackness or a solid color. In Resolume’s effects panel, the Strobe effect cuts the video signal at a frequency measured in hertz (Hz) or beats per minute (BPM).

The tool's journey reflects the growing needs of live performance visuals: slice strobe resolume

Go into Resolume right now. Drop a heavy bass track into the audio analysis. Load your favorite clip. Add a Slice effect (12 columns, BPM LFO on Offset). Add a Strobe effect (BPM Sync 1/4 note). Then map the Strobe Bypass to your MIDI controller’s button. A strobe effect rapidly alternates between the original

For a more complex, "glitchy" strobe where slices move independently. Drop a heavy bass track into the audio analysis

Start simple: Left vs. Right. Master the BPM sync. Then introduce FFT triggers and color strobing. Before long, your audience won't just hear the drop—they will see it shattered across every LED panel in the room.

The strobe is laggy or looks like a slideshow. Solution: Check your clip frame rate. If your clip is 30fps and you try to strobe at 30Hz, it will stutter. Use clips at 60fps for high-speed strobing, or use the Trail effect to generate artificial frames.

Users can select specific slices from the "Slices" tab to participate in the strobe, leaving others unaffected.
